Some Runyon researchers believe that Freeman Runyon b. ABT 1760 was a 14th child of Phineas RUNYON & Charity COATES, which may or may not be fact. Much more research must be conducted to document that theory.
Name: Freeman RUNYON
Sex: M
Birth: ABT. 1760 in Virginia 1
Death: BEF. 26 MAR 1855 Note:
Runyon family researchers should be cautioned that documented evidance has not been found to date that proves beyond dought that Freeman Runyon is a son of Phineas Runyon. Robert & Amos Runyon in their book "RUNYON GENEALOGY" 1955 and Robert's 1962 "SUPPLEMENT To Runyon Genealogy" list only 13 children of Phineas, and Freeman was not listed in their works.
Patty Barthell Myers in "Ancestors and Descendants of Lewis Ross Freeman" (State Historical Society of Wisconsin) stated that Freeman Runyon (ca 1720), son of John Runyon and Ann Elizabeth Freeman had a son named Phineas, b. 1742,d. 1831, m. Charity Coats b. c1747, who had 14 children, and that one of his grandsons was named Freeman.
The 1840 Barren County, Kentucky, Census shows that Freeman Runyon lived in that county at the same time as other children & descendants of Phineas, listing the following heads-of-families: Barefoot (1767), Charles (1798), Freeman (1760), James (1805), Isaac (1811), Joseph S. (1808), Thomas J. (1814), and Wilson (1802). James, Joseph S., and Thomas have been identified as sons of Freeman Runyon as evidanced by a deed from the heirs of Freeman to Joseph Nunn in March of 1855. Charles, Isaac, and Wilson are sons of Bafford "Barefoot" Runyon, son of Phineas Runyon.
The 1850 Barren County Kentucky Census lists Freeman Runyon and wife Martha as living with James Runyon (1805) and family.
On March 26, 1855 the heirs of Freeman executed a deed transfering land to Joseph W. Nunn. The deed was abstracted in: "Cumberland County Kentucky Deed Records...Abstract and Index", compiled by Laura Lee Butler and Randolph N. Smith, 1975. Leeran Publishers, 120 North High Street, Burkesville, Kentucky 42717. The abstract is in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City,
and the actual records are on FHL microfilm number 0804870.

Here's where I've (Gregory Brown- gbrown@unlserve.unl.edu ) found this (I think) Freeman Runyon so far:
1760 Born in "VA"
1787 Botetourt County, Virginia tax list. Listed with Matthew Wilson (tax paid
by Wilson).
1798 Jefferson County, Kentucky. Marriage to Polly Sweney/Suainey
1800 Jefferson County, Tennessee tax list.
1806 Kentucky, tax list.
1810 Gerrard County, Kentucky, census.
1812 Bedford County, Tennessee, tax list
1820 Cumberland County, Kentucky, census
1830-1850 Barren County, Kentucky, census records.
There are several other Freeman Runyons, born 1720, 1811, 1836.
Presumably, all these Freeman Runyons descend from either John Runyan b. 1695 who married Ann Elizabeth Freeman or his brother Vincent b. 1702 who married
Rachel Freeman. I've not been able to establish any connections yet. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.
