I received the following e-male from Doug Perkins, son of Amali Runyon (daughter of Robert Runyon,co-author of "Runyon Genealogy" published 1955)
From 2003 to 2007, Amali Runyon Perkins published online Runyon Tidbits, a
collection of short and interesting pieces she collected in her research
into the Runyon/Runyan/Runion/Runnion family. The Tidbits format today
would be considered a genealogical blog. Although the web technology
wasn't perfect back then, the site won a good following among many
researchers despite its design limitations.
In addition to the shorts, Tidbits had much other well-researched
information about the Runyon family. As a daughter of Robert Runyon,
co-author of *Runyon Genealogy *with his cousin Amos Runyon, Amali combined
their early research with information she uncovered on her many
genealogical trips to New Jersey, New York, Virginia, West Virginia,
Kentucky, England and France. That effort resulted in well-documented
studies that she put online to share with other researchers.
After my mother's death in 2007, that web site ended. Since then, we have
received many requests not only for occasional Tidbits items themselves but
also for her French research into the origin of the Rongnion surname and
her detailed chronology of Revolutionary War veteran Isaac Runyon. Rather
than continue to send out the information individually when requested, we
have published Runyon Tidbits, the French research and the information on
Isaac in a new web site. You can access it at Runyan Genealogy from Amali Runyon.
All the original information of Runyon Tidbits and a bit of new information
can be found there. We won't update this site on a schedule like my mother
did, but we will post new information as we find it from time to time.
As she always said, we hope you enjoy the information and are able to use
it to further the study of the Runyon name and all its derivatives.
