???Hello all, I was in the Pike County Clerk's office today and stumbled across a book called the "Lunatic Book". It appears to be cases where people were committed to an asylum in Lexington, Ky. after having a trial and being found of unsound mind and a lunatic. I was perusing through it, and happened to find a case of a George W. Runyon, who is listed as being 23 years of age at the date of trial (April 6th, 1901), single, and a farmer. I started checking against known George W. Runyons in our family, and can only come up with one that matches the proper time of birth, that would be the son of William Anderson Runyon and Nellie (McCoy) Runyon. He was born on March 19, 1877, according to the Runyon Geneology book, which would actually make him 24 at the time of his trial, if that birthdate and year is correct. I will be happy to share a copy of this record with anyone who wishes to see it, but I was wondering if this is perhaps the reason there is no other information listed about this particular George in the book other than his death date?
I just found this to be very interesting and thought I would share.

Interesting.......Does the "Lunatic Book" give any details about the trial, or is it just a listing of names and/or cases?

It gives a very few scant details, I'll be happy to email you a copy of it, sir. Each case had a summary page that listed (where applicable) certain details about the case, including who the jurors were, the judge, prosecuting attorney, etc. I will be digging through the court records next, to see if I can find any cross-referenced cases (such as an order of release, etc.).
Please just let me know if you would like the copy, I do not like to send unsolicited emails with attachments.
Thank you, Eddie Runyon
