ISAAC RUNYON
and Hannah (Carden) Runyon lived many years in Montgomery County, in that part which later became Pulaski County, Virginia. They owned land in Montgomery County not far from the Wythe County line. Richard purchased from John Grayson, a al., 283 acres of land located on the west side of New River in Montgomery County August 7, 1804. The deed of conveyance was signed by John and Sarah Grayson and the consideration was $1,000. The 1850 census listed Richard living with his son William in Pulaski County, Virginia. Richard was then seventy-five years of age. Their children were: (a) Anna, married James Farmer November 30, 1818 in Montgomery County. Richard was witness to the marriage. (b) Mary, married Elijah Farmer -March 6, 1819, in Montgomery County. James Farmer signed the marriage bond. Richard, Mary’s father, and Barnett Farmer, Elijah’s father, gave their written consent. (c) Stephen, married Nancy Farmer March 6, 1819. James Farmer signed the marriage bond, and Barnett Farmer gave his written consent for his daughter, Nancy, to marry Stephen. Stephen and his wife lived in Montgomery County or that part of Montgomery County which later became Pulaski County. Richard and Hannah (Carden) Runyon conveyed by deed their farm of 283 acres on the west side of New River to their son, Stephen, May 10, 1837. Stephen and his wife also lived in Giles County, Virginia, and owned 95 acres of land on Cave Branch, which was twenty-two miles southwest of the county courthouse in Pearisburg, Virginia. The 1850 U.S. Census of Cues County lists Stephen Runyon, his wife Nancy, and children. Stephen was fifty-one years of age, and Nancy was forty-nine. Their children were: (aa) William, married Orleany Bland in 1850. (bb) Aurencia, born in 1833. (cc) Hannah, born in 1831. (dd) Richard, born in 1833. The 1850 U.S. Census lists Aurencia and Richard as having been born the same year. They may have been twins. He married Elizabeth F. Privott in Mercer County, West Virginia, December 20, 1860. (ee) Elizabeth, born in 1835, married James Gussler March 6 1852, in Giles County. (if) Lucinda, born in 1840. John
