I am researching Abner Runyan (1758-1846), son of Absolom (1736-1809). His gravestone has a Revolutionary War marker and there was a submission to the state of PA but I have been unable to find any documentation as to his actual service. It appears from the grave marker (Providence Cemetery,Ellwood City, Beaver County, PA) that it was for 1775. His father bought land in Western PA using his Revolutionary War service as a Quarter Master. I am wondering if someone confused this or if Abner did have service and it is just not going to be easy to find. He was born in New Jersey (Hunterdon County) but came to Beaver County PA in 1788 with his brother Stephen. Thanks for any help!! I have been on fold3 to no avail.
