I have researched my lineage for over 50 years but have not been able to connect to the line to Vincent Runyon of Piscataway, NJ, circa 1650-....
I would appreciate any data relating to the RUNION (and other spellings) surname in the North Carolina (specifically Buncombe, Haywood, Madison, Mitchel and other western NC counties) or Tennessee area (Unicoi and Washington Counties) with connections to the origins of my GGGGrandfather JOHN RUNION.
The only documented evidence I've found is his Revolutionary War Pension application filed with the October 29, 1829 Haywood County, NC court. I've read the original document at the Raleigh, NC archives, but it provides little data on him aside from his age as '...approximately 77 years...'. The disposition of this document is not noted in any research I've found - either he died shortly thereafter or moved from the area. There is no evidence of approval or disapproval that I have been able to find in any of the RW war files.
I believe he was married to Susannah Stanton - when or where remains unsolved - I have a pretty well documented listing of his children and their descendants, but any additional data is always welcome.
Anyway, if someone out there has any data as to his parents or siblings, I would be most grateful for any information.
