AARON J. RUNYON
Aaron J. Runyon, 91, 1030 Chestnut Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was a native of Davey, West Virginia. He was born to the late Joseph Albert Runyon and Victoria Bishop Runyon December 5, 1911. He was the 7th great-grandson of Vincent Rongnion, who was a French Huguenot who fled to America in 1665 and was among the early settlers of New Jersey. He attended school in Davey, West Virginia and in Butler, Tennessee and was a welder and pipe fitter. He was a member of Dyson Grove Baptist Church and a very proud Navy Veteran who served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Runyon, 92; two sons, Richard Ayers, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina and Joseph Runyon, Dayton, Tennessee; one daughter, Donna Laws, Jonesborough, Tennessee; one sister, Sybil Brooks, Tazewell, Virginia; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 24, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Woods officiating.
Military graveside services followed in the Phillippi Cemetery.
Pallbearers were men of the First Freewill Baptist Church.
Hux-Lipford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
