I received the following E-mail from Patrick R. Webb of San Jose, CA, a 5th great-grandson of Richard Runyon (1760-1831). kailani-genealogy@stanfordalumni.org
Fred Runyon fmr47@AOL.com made the following observation.....
We would like to hear from researchers of this line who may have further information.
Hello Mr. Runyan,
I was wondering if you knew from what reference you obtained the maiden name
of the wife of Richard Runyon (s. Benjamin), 1760-1831; Providence Dunn?
The above question relates to the following submission regarding Isabella S. Runyon, daughter of Richard and Providence (Prudence):
I believe Isabella S. Runyon married Moses Martin, not Felix Lynch.
Her Rev. War. pension file W25676 says: Moses Martin married, first, NANCY
WALKER, and secondly, ISABELLA S. RUNYON, March 21, 1816, by the Rev. Jacob
Randolph, a Baptist minister, at her father's house in Piscataway. Moses died
Dec. 22, 1830.
In Richard Runyon's will dated 28 Oct 1826 (I'd be happy to send my
transcription, my copy is pretty hard to read), recorded 20 December 1831,
bequests made to wife, Prudence Runyon; son, William Runyon; five daughters,
Margaret Runyon, Ann Toratt [sp?], Isabella Martin, Elizabeth Linch, and
Catharine Runyon; grandson, Runyon Dunn; Elizabeth’s two children, Charles
and Caroline Linch; executors, Samuel L. Pound and grandson, Elias I. Runyon.
Subscribers: Joel Dunn, Lewis Dunn, Ambrose Dunn
Source: Middlesex County Wills, 1831-1833, 11584L, W. 1832. Inv. 1832,
Microfilm 900 (Trenton, NJ: State Archives)
As for Isabella, her death certificate has her mother's name as Prudence Lord:
Isabella S. Martin, b. Feb. 3, 1794, d. Aug. 10, 1880, age 86 yrs., 6 mos.;
widow; birth place America (New Market); last place of residence and death,
Piscataway Town; how long resident in NJ, during life; father, Richard Runyon,
b. America; mother, Prudence L. Lord, b. America; cause of death, Diarrhea
followed by apoplexy; burial, Piscataway town.

If you feel comfortable doing so, could you please update your GedCom with the
above information? I'd be happy to send my copies of any/all of these
documents to you if you like. Thanks!
Patrick

Hi Ira,
In response to your post from Patrick. I have seen Richard's Will and a few of his dau's are buried in Piscatawaytown cemetery. I have no documentation who Richard married, but when Patrick noted that Isabella's mother was Prudence Lord, a light went off in my head. In my notes I have an unknown Runyon marrying a Prudence Thorne, b. 18 Dec 1761 in Piscataway, D/O William Thorne and Margaret Smith. I could be stretching the similarities between the Thorne and Lord, but I have seen worst in the script on Death Cert.'s in Trenton. It could be that Richard married twice.
Other interesting names of that Will: Toratt is actually Fouratt, and grandson Elias I. Runyon. Was Elias the son of William or did Richard have an another son?
I'd be interested in contacting Patrick, do you have his email address or give him mine.
Take Care,
Fred Runyon
