I am stumped on who might be the father, and grandparents of one of my Runyon lines. My paternal great-grandfather was Harry Clifton Runyon who was born in Indiana in 1883. He married Ethel Estell Lane, daughter of Nathan Hale Lane and Melissa Ann Dickey. Harry's son, Acil Lane Runyon, my grandfather, was born in Upland, Indiana and moved with his family (per the 1920 census) to Pawnee County, Oklahoma by the time he was 9 years old. Acil married Alta Pearl Delancy. I have seen on a couple of Ancestry.com trees that a Wilson Runyon born in Ohio in 1848 (married to Emma Jane Arnold) may be Harry's father but none of the trees have actual evidence of the relationship. If Wilson is Harry's father, which line of Runyons is Wilson from? I have seen a few different possible fathers for Wilson, including another Wilson Runyon, and Hiram Lynch Runyon. The only hint I sort of have is that my grandfather, Acil, was a fiddle maker and he told me back when I was child that he learned to make fiddles when he was a small child and completed his first one when he was 12 years old using an old butcher knife he had shaped into a woodcarving tool. So it seems that he probably learned the craft from the elders in his family. Any help is so much appreciated!
