Ok my block is George Runion/Runyon/Runyan.
You might have to reread this a few hundred times to understand then you can scream like I do.
I'm doing my family tree on ancestry.com and my biggest block is George Runion.
Before my grandmother died my mom scribbled down the family history.
George Runion married Jemima Burcham in 1869 in Franklin County Arkansas. On the marriage certificate it is spelled George Runionion. George is 25 and Jemima is 20 which means George would have to be born around 1844-45. They might have met on the trip from Tennessee to Arkansas. Jemima Burcham was from Meigs Tennesse born in 1849 parents of James Burcham and Catherline Lillard Thompson. George and Jemima had one child David T. Runion. The last name is spelled Runion on the 1870 census.
As told by my grandmother, when David T was small like one or two George got up on his horse and went back home. On the census for George his birthplace is Tennessee. On the 1900 census for David of Father's birthplace is Tennessee. So I'm pretty sure George came from Tennessee. I kind of think George and Jemima had a shotgun wedding. Their marriage date is January 24, 1869. David T birthday is May 1869. So, Jemima was 4 months pregnate when a woman starts to show and Daddy gets out the shot gun. It would explain why George didn't stay around so long if he was forced? Of course I'm only speculating.
:-naugthy:
David T. Runion married Julia Sinnickson and had two children Rose and Lillian Runyon. On their marriage certificate it is spelled Runyan. But on the 1900 census David T spells it Runyon.
Julia died in 1899 and David T died in 1901 and was buried as Runion under the same field stone. My grandmother Rose spelled it as Runyon.
Now in my mother's notes she had it as Thomas Runyon married Jemima. Right, well doing my ancestry research and marriage and census records it is spelled George Runion. I found another source from a distant cousin on Ancestry that would be Jemima GG nephew. He had Jemima married to Thomas Runyan. I asked him his resource and he said " that was the way granny had it." It is the same Jemima. I looked at his family tree and sources. Jemima and his GG grandmother was sisters.
I'm thinking it might have been spelled Runion but both Jemima and George could not spell as stated in their census. Also, it's bout to drive me beserker with all the different spellings of Runion/Runyan/Ruyon. George might be referred as George Thomas Runion or Thomas George Runion. On Ancestry there are tons of different George or Thomas Runion/Runyan/Runyons. I have to make sure I have the right one because I'm sure George (being a man) probably got remarried again in Tennessee and had a parcel of kids. So, I am sure I have relations that knew nothing of David T and Jemima if George didn't talk about them.
I hope somebody can help because I don't have much hair to loose anymore.
