Last week, Lori Doerr reported to us information on a newspaper account (Death Notice) she located on Dixie Runyon Chambers, Daughter of Lewis Runyon, Pike County, KY. She said in part "She died April 28, 1905 in Denver, Colorado. They went there the previous fall hoping the climate would improve her health. We understand she had TB. She was buried May 5, 1905 in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington."
Lewis Garrett RUNYON (Adam RUNYON , Jr.6, Adam RUNYON5, Isaac RUNYON4, Joseph RUNYAN3, Thomas RUNYAN2, Vincent RONGNION1) was born 1831 in Logan County, Virginia. He married Elvira MAYNARD 26 FEB 1855 in Cabell County, West Virginia, daughter of Benjamin MAYNARD. She was born 1835 in Bushy Creek, Pike County, Kentucky. Lewis G. Runyon served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was granted 250 acres of land on Runyon's Branch, Pike County, Kentucky where he raised a large family. Lori sent me a copy of an article titled "MRS. CHAMBERS FUNERAL TODAY" from the Huntington Advertiser, Friday, May 5, 1905, page 3. That article had the following statement "Mrs. Chambers was the daughter of Ex-Representative Lewis Runyon of Pike County, Ky., who is one of the best known men in the Big Sandy Valley."
I have spent several hours on the Internet looking for a list of past Ky Representatives hoping to confirm that statement, but can't find that information from here in Florida.. It is my hope that some Runyon Family Researchers located in Kentucky can help confirm (or disprove) the above newspaper statement.
