The idenity of the husband of Belinda Runyon, daughter of Asa G. Runyon and Mary F. Arthur has come in question.[/size]
From David Runyon's website www.ezl.com/~runyond/tree.html
"Belinda B. Runyon; Born 1848 in Lancaster, Garrard Co., KY. She married Adolphus Joseph Beuter, son of Joseph Beuter & Anastasia Heim. Born 28 Sep 1829 in Frielingen, Baden, Germany. Died 30 Jan 1889 in Solon, IA. Adolph was an important factor in the early history of Solon, Iowa. He owned all the land where now is the southern part of Solon. This land was plotted and sold as lots. He was county supervisor for a number of years and was very influential in Politics and business and was regarded as one of the stanch men of the county."
Mike J. Weeks, Some Descendants of Phineas Runyon, (Web Page www.kinware.com/R2179.html), lists as the husband of Belinda Runyon a Adolph Joseph Beuter, born 28 Sep 1829, and died 30 Jan 1889 in Iowa.
A obituary has been located for Mrs. Belinda Beuter wife of A.J. Beuter states that she was born in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania on September 8, 1838. As such, she could not be the Belinda Runyon, daughter of Asa G. Runyon and Mary F. Arthur.
"Rick Larson" <rickswede@prodigy.net> sent the obituary by means of an E-mail which stated...
Belinda Runyon Beuter was not the child of Asa and Mary Runyon. I have attached her Obituary and it shows this Belinda Runyon was born in Pennsylvania. It is an understandable mistake since this Belinda settled in the same area as Silas, Asa, and Gilford (my Great Great Grandfather) Runyon did in Iowa. The real Belinda Runyon child of Asa and Mary married Isaiah Wilson on March 28, 1865 in Garrard County and eventually settled in Indiana. I have a copy of her marriage certificate that was signed by Mary F Runyon because Belinda was a minor at the time.".....
Thanks,
Rick Larson
The obit is below.....Any thoughts?
