Have been away from genealogy for a while. Am back to it again. The last tidbit I had received told me Adam Runyon was Andrew Runyon's father and that Christaney (not sure of correct spelling) Coleman was Andrew's mother but that Adam and Christenay were never married??? Does anyone have any information as to the accuracy of this. By the way I received a copy of a very short newspaper article about Andrew being burnt to death in a brush fire.

I have just found this site while starting to look for my great-grandmother, Matilda Painter Runyon. Thanks for the information. My father was Victor O. Runyon youngest son of Thomas D. Runyon, son of James and Matilda Painter Runyon of Justice, Wva. He always said that his grandmother died first and that "grandad Runyon" died in a brush fire in the 40's. He remembered it well because he was born in 1930. The children of Thomas Runyon and Lizzie Runyon (sister) were double-first cousins. Lizzie married Owen Browning and my grandfather, Thomas thingy Runyon married Owen's sister, Virgie Browning. They settled in Verner, Wva across the river as next door neighbors. In all, I think I counted 15 double-first cousins. The only living one of the children in both families who would know first-hand accounts is Mila Browning Blankenship (Lizzie Runyon Browning's daughter). She and her husband live in Ohio. I don't have her address. I know that they come to most of the funerals. My grandfather, Thomas, died in December of 1960 and I was born in 1962. He farmed and worked in the coal mines. I could not find anyone who knew the maiden name of Matilda . All of us had forgotten until one of my aunts by marriage remembered. I have heard my father talk about Aunt Brooke before, so your post made me take a second look. I am very interested to know about their Runyon ancestors. I know that Dad did say that they came from Virginia. Another thing that I remember is that one of James and Matilda's sons killed himself at one point. Not for sure of the circumstances. It seemed to involve a young lady. Anyway, thanks for posting. The lady that I mentioned, Mila, would be a good resource . She just lost a sister in November and a brother a couple of years ago. Thanks so much, Regina Runyon Brothers Huntsville, Alabama.
